ABOUT ME!
ALYSSA MCDONALD is an actor, singer, and dancer based in Nyack, NY. Alyssa grew up in a very theatrical family (with her dad being a Broadway actor and her mom being a Rockette) and has always felt happiest on stage. She recently graduated with her BFA in Musical Theatre from Western Connecticut State University.
During her time at WCSU, Alyssa has had the privilege of training with industry professionals such as Tim Howard, Justin P. Cowan, Chris Bolan, Ann Gerschefski, Phillip George, and Broadway veterans John Hickok, Liz Parkinson, Scott Wise, and Mary Ann Lamb.
Educational roles at WCSU include:
Shelley in Bat Boy, Jennie Brinker in Allegro, Mollie Maggia/Opal in The Radium Girls: A Jaw Dropping New Musical, Ensemble in Head Over Heels, and Ensemble Swing in The Who's Tommy and Sweeney Todd.
Even before college, during her junior year of high school, Alyssa made great strides in the theatre world by winning Best Actress at the 2018 Roger Rees Awards and going on to compete in the 2018 Jimmy Awards (NHSMTA) at The Minskoff Theatre for her role of Doria in Smile.

NEXT UP...
Alyssa is so excited to be returning to Forestburgh Playhouse in June to play Natalie in NEXT TO NORMAL. She will also be apart of ResCo 2025 and will be in the ensemble of THE FULL MONTY, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, NEWSIES, HEAD OVER HEELS, and a TYA production of SHREK THE MUSICAL! ​
THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW
at Forestburgh Playhouse!
Alyssa went back to Forestburgh Playhouse this October for their 2024 production of ROCKY HORROR directed by Franklin Trapp.
She had the joy of being a phantom/ensemble, and understudying Janet/Magenta/Columbia.
Also, Alyssa got the chance to perform the role of JANET on October 25th! Shoutout to her amazing cast and creative team for being so supportive!
